BEFORE STARTING TO USE PRIVATEGSM
Is PrivateGSM easy to use?
The user interface is very user-friendly: menu and options commands are very easy and immediate. Calling and receiving call work exactly as for any common conversations. See the PrivateGSM Quick Start GuideDo I need a new mobile to install PrivateGSM?
PrivateGSM works on Nokia Symbian S60 3th edition devices. If your mobile is included in this category, you can proceed installing PrivateGSM on your own phone.Where can I see my Nokia model?
Digit *#0000# and the model will be displayed; you can even check the label under the battery. If PrivateGSM is working on my mobile, is each call managed by this software?
No; you can decide which call you want to process in the secure way, and which in the standard way. Remember that PrivateGSM needs to be installed on both mobiles (caller and receiver), to allow a secure conversation. Is the secure call cost different from the standard call cost?
Usually, the cost is the same. You'd better check with your mobile operator customer service. PROBLEMS DURING A CALLWhy, during a secure call, voices are delayed?
The delay, or latency, is due to the use of the data line technology, mandatory to grant the call security. It's therefore common to hear a delay, that is actually an evidence that you're making a secure call. When I start a secure call I can not here any "beep", before being connected. Is it fine?
Not all the devices have the same behaviour. It can happen that some models don't perform any beep; anyway the call is in connection (you can check on your mobile display). If the user called is busy, a message will be displayed. When making a secure call, it takes some seconds between the connection and the moment when I can really start to talk. Is it fine?
It's fine, since the application needs to exchange and verify the secure keys. It takes some seconds and then you can start your conversation. When I make a call, my called party hears a whistle, similar to a fax call: how can I solve this problem?
This problem happens when it is not possible to establish an incoming GSM CSD data connection. It depends on the mobile operator settings. The receiver needs to verify that a CSD line is available on his mobile number. The caller has to verify that the call has been directed to the received data number and not voice number.I can not make any secure call: it is suddenly interrupted. What is the problem?
There can be a problem with the mobile settings or with the GSM CSD data line availability. You have to check your mobile configuration (must be GSM/2G and not UMTS/3G). If your mobile is working in UMTS/3G or in Dual Mode, you need to set it on GSM/2G (Tools → Settings → Phone → Network → Network Mode → GSM) . Contact your mobile operator to check if the GSM CSD is available to call. A trick to verify by yourself if your GSM CSD is active, is to ask to your operator the phone number for the WAP connection. Try to call it through PrivateGSM (e.g.: a number always reachable for testing the data line is the WAP Swisscom +41794997039). If the connection works and reach the "Securing..." step, then your line is active and can manage the outgoing call. If you are not able to reach this step, you need to contact your mobile operator to ask the activation. Check our suggestionWhat happens if a PrivateGSM user call a mobile without the secure software installed?
The receiver device can not establish the connection. The mobile could display a message that sounds like: "connect a modem" or "data connection incoming". USE IN PARTICULAR SITUATIONSCan I use PrivateGSM even while I'm moving (e.g. driving or travelling by train..)?
You can, if the moving speed is between 60km/h and 100km/h, according also to the mobile operator's phone cells coverage. The voice can not be clear, as it happens for example when you are travelling by train. Can I use PrivateGSM in roaming, while I'm abroad?
You can, but you need to check that the GSM CSD line is supported in the right way by the foreign mobile operator. In some cases you'll need to set up manually the mobile operator. Check the information about the GSM CSD in Roaming When the mobile operator doesn't support the CSD line, the secure calls can be interrupted after few seconds or not managed at all. OTHER QUESTIONSIs it legal to use this kind of software?
Yes it is, it is explicitly allowed by the law.How can I remove the software from my mobile?
You simply need to uninstall it from your mobile application menu. What can I do if I can not find on your support website the answer to solve my problem?
